2024/25 Canyon CIPA Photo Day

I believe in second chances, so here we are. I was asked to shoot a Photo Day for CIPA again, and after the last two Banners-Only sessions last year and earlier this year went so smoothly, I agreed. I figured we’d simply dial it back from the crazy Photo Day in 2022 and lower my expectations. The initial shoot was a long one, with band and two orchestras coming through. A LOT of kids. I came back another evening for colorguard and some make-ups. Orders were very thin the day of the shoot, but I thought they’d pick up after the buzz of the session. I put together the huge Regiment image above, and two very involved Orchestra groups below. Of sixty kids only three bought an orchestra group photo. A complete bust. The Regiment image was a bust as well, but not at that ratio. The amount of work on this project is far more than anything I do and the payout is less than anything I do. Disappointing, but lesson learned. If asked next year, I will gladly shoot banners and offer an open session night at my studio for CIPA kids who want photos.
